Greetings neighbor!

I have lived in this district for 38 years and have dedicated my career to making our community a better place to live. I moved to this district to work as a lawyer for farmworkers. I started a non-profit “Partners for Peace” to develop strategies to reduce youth violence. We focused on early childhood education, literacy, afterschool programs, youth employment and strengthening family communication. I have also fought to maintain agriculture as a vibrant economic force in California, helping the industry secure the resources that it needs, including access to water, to fuel our rural economies.

Throughout my public service career, I have represented rural agricultural communities. I have served as a City Councilmember, Mayor, and State Assemblymember. In each of these positions, I have been elected by and have represented rural, agricultural communities. In 2011, Governor Jerry Brown asked me to serve in his Cabinet to help him reduce California’s $26 billion dollar budget deficit. I worked with the Governor to make the state more efficient, customer service oriented, and fiscally accountable. I loved working with the Governor and helped resolve issues that threatened our community, such as getting state approval for local public school construction projects and improvements, working with local leaders to resolve disability access issues, and helping federal and local authorities make sure contracts were in order for a new Veterans Cemetery at the former Fort Ord.

We need someone who knows how to get things done and who will fight for rural California and for agricultural communities. I am that person. I would be honored to have your vote. You can count on me.

RELEASE: Anna Caballero Endorsed by Republican Farmer and County Supervisor Anthony Botelho

Hollister, Calif. – Anna Caballero, Chair of the California State Assembly’s Committee on Agriculture and candidate for California State Senate District 12, was today endorsed by Republican farmer and San Benito County Supervisor Anthony Botelho. Botelho serves as the District 2 Chairman on the San Benito County Board of Supervisors as well as an apple farmer who supplies Martinelli’s Juice Co.

“I’m a registered Republican, and support Anna Caballero for California State Senate District 12,” said Anthony Botelho, a farmer and San Benito Supervisor. “Anna has a long track record of reaching across the aisle to find solutions for  California’s most pressing issues, including in the State Assembly, where she worked on a bi-partisan committee to protect our water. Because of Anna’s commitment to working together to deliver real results, I am endorsing her as the best choice for State Senate District 12.”

“I am very grateful for the support of Anthony Botelho as well as his important work on the San Benito County Board of Supervisors,” said Anna Caballero. “Anthony understands that I am committed to fighting for the interests and rights of rural Californians, no matter what side of the aisle they stand on. In the State Senate, I promise to continue the bipartisan work I have done in the Assembly to ensure rural Californian communities have access to clean water, good education, and affordable healthcare.”

Fresno, Calif. – Today, Anna Caballero, Chair of the California State Assembly’s Committee on Agriculture and candidate for California State Senate District 12, released her first television ad, titled “Table.” The ad highlights Caballero’s record of service and bringing both parties together to reduce crime, cut wasteful spending, and expand affordable housing for veterans.

“Cooperation is not the enemy of progress,” says Caballero. “When we come together, we come out ahead. As Mayor and Assemblywoman, I brought people together to turn our budget shortfall into a surplus, to help our Veterans find an affordable place to call home, and to drive violent crime to an all-time low. And that’s how I’ll make progress in the State Senate — because we’re stronger when everyone has a seat at the table. I’m Anna Caballero, and I’m running for State Senate.”

Caballero, who is endorsed by police officers, firefighters, veterans, seniors, nurses, teachers, and farmers, is joined in the ad by members of the community, all who have a seat at the table with Caballero to move their community forward.

“Table” will air on broadcast and cable television in the 12th Senate District.

State Assemblywoman Anna Caballero kicked off her California Senate campaign tour on the steps of Hollister City Hall in front of a group of about 40 supporters Sept. 7.

Hollister City Council members and San Benito County supervisors were also present to support Caballero as she seeks votes for the 12th District Senate seat currently held by Anthony Cannella, who terms out in November. Caballero faces Madera County Supervisor Rob Poythress for the open seat.

Hollister Councilwoman Mickie Luna introduced Caballero, saying she supported her because the assemblywoman is strong and moves the agenda forward for everyone. Luna added that Caballero doesn’t forget about the rural areas.

Luna is running for re-election for City Council in District 2.

County Supervisor Robert Rivas, the Democratic candidate in the race for Caballero’s seat in the 30th State Assembly District, also had high praises for Caballero. He said she has always served and fought for people in the community.

“She has a history of fighting for us and now it’s time for all of us to fight for her,” Rivas said.

Caballero told BenitoLink her bid for the 12th District seat is a grassroots campaign that she is running, and that her team began walking in all six counties this week.

The counties are San Benito, Stanislaus, Merced, parts of Fresno, Madera, and Monterey.

“It’s no accident that we’re starting it off this morning here because I had my law practice for 25 years a block away,” Caballero said.

She said she began her latest campaign in Hollister because of all the loving friends and supporters she has in the city.

“I knew almost everybody in the crowd and that says a lot about the activism and the interest that is here in San Benito County.”

Despite the familiarity with the process, Caballero said this time it’s different because the political climate has changed and the issues are more serious. Among them are immigration, health care, affordable housing and water.

“People are much more interested in understanding what the state does and how important it is to know who their legislators are,” Caballero said.

Caballero, who had scheduled tour stops in Los Banos and Patterson on Sept. 7, said she will not be traveling in a bus, as was the plan, because it is less cost-efficient.
